FA_ACTIVEX is an ActiveX/COM component from VeriFone, Inc. designed to let Windows applications and Internet Explorer–based tools communicate with VeriFone payment terminals. It commonly supports tasks such as device discovery, initiating transactions, handling card and PIN pad events, updating configurations or firmware, and managing connections over USB, serial, or network interfaces. The control is typically installed alongside VeriFone merchant software, device drivers, or legacy web portals that require in-browser access to payment hardware. Because it relies on ActiveX/COM, FA_ACTIVEX generally requires Windows, appropriate permissions, and an Internet Explorer–compatible environment. Organizations using it should validate code signatures, restrict host access in line with security best practices, and plan for migration to modern, browser-neutral device integration methods where available, as removing the control may impact dependent applications.
FA_ACTIVEX is developed by VeriFone, Inc.. The most popular version of this product among our users is 1.9.
